Born from a long lineage and musical heritage, the acoustic guitar is steeped in tradition. But music continues to evolve, and musicians demand inspiring new tools with which to carve out their own signature sound. In that spirit, we introduce Ibanez AE, our flagship series of acoustic-electric guitars, offer supreme tone and playability, and represent another great chapter in the acoustic guitar tradition.
****Product Features****
- Comfort Grip Maple neck with Rounded Fretboard Edge The Comfort Grip Maple Neck contour and round edges of the fingerboard provide superior playability.
- Katalox fretboard Katalox produces a tight mid-low and a strong attack in the high end. Katalox also features a quick response and rich sustain.
- Jumbo frets Jumbo frets contribute to smooth playability, especially for single-note playing.
- Solid Okoume top Solid Okoume top offers a full-bodied and warm mid-range and a bright tone.
- Okoume back and sides The Okoume back and sides generate a woody, warm tone when the guitar is played softly or finger-picked and provide punchy high-mids with a clear projection when strummed.
- Ibanez T-bar Undersaddle pickup The Ibanez T-bar Undersaddle pickup accurately translates that full sound to whatever amplification system you plug it into.
- Ibanez Custom Electronics The compact, onboard active preamp features a mute switch to eliminate unexpected parameter changes during performances. This helps to reduce the guitar’s size and weight, minimize body contact and maximize the acoustic tone.
- Katalox bridge The Katalox bridge transfers string vibration directly to the body, delivering a natural and warm tone.
- Ibanez Advantage™ bridge pins These pins really are an advantage over old-fashioned pins. Advantage™ pins are easier to take out and easier to put in than standard pins. A special bulb-shaped end makes the pin easy to grip and also prevents the pin from being pushed in too far. Best of all, with Advantage™ the pin and string stay put.
****Special Features****
- X-M Bracing Spending a few years with trial and error, Ibanez finally reached to out-of-the-box X-M Bracing to generate the ultimate sound standing out on the stage. The X-M Bracing creates the clear bottom and crispy treble sound with trimmed warm mid-range, yet providing wide dynamic range and highly response.
- AE body shape Designed for projection, balance, and comfort, the AE's perfectly crafted contemporary body shape offers the best of all worlds.
- Comfort Grip w/Rounded Fingerboard Edge In order to achieve supreme playability, the neck was specially designed with Thin-C shape style comfort grip with fingerboard's rounded edge.

I bought the left-handed model. In its clean sound, it's neat but since it's a not very deep box, the sound intensity is not incredible. In amplified sound, it's magnificent with nice round bass and especially great fidelity of the pickups and preamp that reproduce the slightest sounds on the neck. My best guitar, knowing that for me Ibanez is the top value for money.

Appearance
The guitar is beautiful; the finish is of a very good level. It remains to be seen how it will hold up over time, especially the "vine" patterns on the fretboard.
Comfort
It is an extremely light and perfectly balanced guitar.
Once the neck is adjusted (rod), the comfort is almost perfect, just slightly marred by a somewhat rough fretboard, nothing serious.
Sound
The sound is very beautiful and I find it has a lot of volume for a "jumbo" guitar. My different tunings sound great. Beautiful resonance.
Regarding the electro-acoustic part: I haven't tried plugging it in (I will do my recordings with external microphones), so I can't say anything about that.
Tuning and string mechanics
I have a reservation regarding the tuning phase: a string broke on the first day and the tuning was punctuated by jerks (it makes a "clank"! from time to time) on two of the six strings, which is a bit annoying.
Apart from that, the guitar holds the tuning satisfactorily.
Quality
I don't have enough hindsight to judge the quality of the instrument over time, so I give it three stars based on the defects noted and presented above....(Show more)

Use
I chose this guitar for its look, and the fact that it has a solid top. The warm sound and pleasant touch do not spoil anything. Too bad that upon receipt, I discovered an aesthetic defect on the bridge, very regrettable for a new guitar.
