T170DCE Tramontane Dreadnought Cutaway Electro

A brand new design, largely thanks to luthier Maurice Dupont, makes these Tramontane guitars unbeatable in terms of value for money!

While the models of the different Lâg acoustic ranges change regularly, it is to meet the French luthiers' desire to constantly improve their guitars. Admittedly, it can be unsettling not to find the same model year after year at retailers, but if it means accessing instruments that are increasingly high-performing, enjoyable to play, and rich in tone, who could complain?

The T170, at the heart of the new range.

This brand new T170, positioned at the center of the Tramontane series, has benefited from numerous innovations, most of which are thanks to luthier Maurice Dupont, who has been in charge of the design and manufacturing oversight of Lâg guitars for several months now. And the man with the magic touch has worked wonders! Including, notably, a redesigned bracing system tested multiple times until achieving perfect tonal balance. The success was such that this new design has been extended to the T70 and T270 models, which should be available soon.

A remarkable satin finish.

When you pick up this T170, you are immediately impressed by the solid cedar top, which gives it a warm appearance but also a refined look thanks, among other things, to the beautiful satin varnish. As always, it features an asymmetric rosette design with the Occitan cross, contributing to its “classy” appearance. The back and sides, also finished in satin, are made of khaya, an African mahogany, which perfectly complements the cedar top both in terms of color and tone. In other words, the best of both worlds. For the rest, you’ll find the usual Lâg graphite nuts and black oil-bath tuners.

A warm yet powerful sound.

The feel, whether for the dreadnought or auditorium model, is “obvious” as it proves easy and comfortable to play. The neck profile, slim and nicely rounded, certainly helps. You know, the kind of neck that immediately gives you the feeling of playing well! Fingerstyle players (and smaller players too!) will likely prefer the auditorium format, which is ideally suited to this technique. On the other hand, rhythm players and those seeking strong projection will definitely choose the dreadnought. In both cases, they will appreciate the balance between bass and treble, even if the cedar top slightly emphasizes the mid frequencies. This explains the warm tone of these models.
