  • Premium Wood Combination: solid Adirondack spruce top for dynamics, Honduran rosewood back and sides for depth and brilliance.

  • Builder's Edition Ergonomics: beveled armrest, sculpted cutaway, chamfered edges, and Curve Wing bridge for remarkable playing comfort.

  • Modern Grand Auditorium: balance, projection, and sustain that make the 814ce a versatile reference both in the studio and on stage.

The Iconic Grand Auditorium of the 800 Series, Reinvented

For decades, the 814ce has embodied Taylor's Grand Auditorium shape, striking a balance between the power of a dreadnought and the finesse of an OM. This 2026 Builder's Edition takes a step forward: the long tenon neck enhances vibrational transmission, and the new scalloped V-Class bracing adds a more present low end while maintaining intonation and projection. The refined aesthetics and ergonomic contours underscore the premium approach of the Builder's Edition collection.

For Which Musicians and Styles?

Designed for intermediate to expert guitarists, the 814ce targets composers, demanding fingerstyle players, and accompanists who alternate between nuanced playing and powerful strumming. Modern folk, pop, blues, country, and percussive fingerstyle benefit from its dynamic range, while the Claria electronics ensure a seamless transition to the stage.

Sound

The Adirondack spruce top delivers a crisp attack, wide headroom before saturation, and an airy treble register. Honduran rosewood adds deep lows, scooped mids, and sparkling harmonics. The scalloped V-Class bracing further opens the low spectrum and enriches the resonance of open strings while preserving harmonic alignment for exemplary intonation. The Grand Auditorium body offers excellent string-to-string balance, generous projection, and controlled sustain. The Action Control Neck allows quick adjustment of the action to tailor the response for fingerstyle touch or more energetic playing.
