The Dynaudio LYD-5 redefines the compact nearfield monitor by targeting immediate accuracy, especially useful when acoustics are imperfect or listening distances are short. It excels in confined spaces, minimalist setups, composition desks, and small studios where working at reasonable volume without losing low-end information is essential. Its balance and transient response make it an excellent choice for editing, nearfield mixing, and detailed control of vocals, synths, guitars, percussion, and ambience.
Each speaker integrates dedicated Class D amplification for bass and treble, combined with 24 bits / 96 kHz signal management. This architecture promotes clean, responsive, and coherent reproduction, with well-controlled dynamics and excellent definition at low levels. The crossover frequency is set at 5200 Hz for a smooth transition between woofer and tweeter.
The LYD-5 combines a 28 mm soft dome tweeter with a 5-inch MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) woofer. The woofers use lightweight aluminum voice coils to improve transient response and impact sensation. The LYD-5 offers a balanced XLR input for clean integration into a professional audio chain, as well as an unbalanced RCA input for simpler setups. An automatic standby feature reduces power consumption when the speaker no longer detects a signal, convenient for daily production environments.
