The second-generation Focal Alpha 50 ?Evo? retains the DNA of the Alpha series while modernizing the experience: Slatefiber woofer made in France, redesigned aesthetics, expanded connectivity, and integration options. Compared to the original Alpha 50, the Evo adds a TRS input, a switchable standby mode, and mounting inserts to adapt to contemporary studios without sacrificing the neutrality that made the series renowned.
Designed for nearfield listening in home studios and project control rooms, the Alpha 50 Evo is suitable for beatmaking, editing, recording, and mixing in small to medium-sized rooms. Its balanced frequency response and solid level handling help accurately judge low-mids and transients, whether used as a stereo pair on a desk or mounted on walls/ceilings thanks to the integrated mounting inserts.
The 13 cm Slatefiber cone delivers fast impulse response and controlled bass, while the 25 mm inverted dome aluminum tweeter ensures controlled dispersion and detailed highs without harshness. Together, they provide tonal coherence and a stable image at various volume levels.
Two Class D modules deliver 30 W to the woofer and 20 W to the tweeter. The high current capacity ensures excellent transient control, allowing peak levels up to 101 dB at 1 m without distortion or harshness, useful for assessing mix impact.
The triple input options?XLR, 6.35 mm TRS jack, and RCA?facilitate connection to an audio interface or controller. The automatic standby mode is switchable to prevent unintended cutoffs. Wall and ceiling mounting inserts, included protective grille, and the bass-reflex enclosure with refined rounded edges promote secure installation and even sound dispersion.
LF/HF equalization controls allow fine-tuning of the response between 0 and 300 Hz (±6 dB) and from 4.5 to 22 kHz (±3 dB) to compensate for wall proximity or room acoustics and achieve a reliable balance.
