Vandoren ZZ 2.5 - SR4225

Description

Signed of a ZZ which means jazz! This reed produces an exceptional resonance and shine of the timbre, qualities particularly appreciated by jazz musicians.

A hybrid reed for jazzmen.
The ZZ reed combines the rounded tip of the V16 and the flexible palette of Java to achieve extraordinary color and richness of sound. Appeared in 2002, this reed meets the needs of jazz musicians, and guarantees an ease of emission that preserves the resonance and brilliance of the timbre, two essential elements for the practice of this musical style.

An artisanal and eco-responsible process.
From planting reeds to flow-pack packaging that protects reeds from moisture changes, Vandoren controls all stages of production of its famous reed tabs. Cut by hand, the canes are worn on the back of a man on the edge of a reed bed. They are then leafed, sun-dried, dried, sawn, arrowed, tabled, bevelled, ... No less than fifteen distinct production stages that produce a considerable volume of reed waste that is reused as a fertilizer for reed beds or as fuel for heating factory. Music at the service of ecology!

Box of 5 reeds. After tests with many Jazzmen, it appears that the new reed ZZ offers great ease of emission while preserving the resonance and shine of the timbre, essential for this style of music.
The great ease of emission of the ZZ reed immediately made many followers.
The perfect balance of this reed gives it an extraordinary color of sound, an excellent response and a long life.

playing with a Selmer tenor ref 54 passive and a very open Larsen mouthpiece I really like these Vandoren jazz ZZ reeds - I find them less harsh than the V ones, which are also excellent.... I also tried RICO select jazz reeds - Rico royal - and Lavoz with different openings depending on the mouthpieces used, ebonite or metal jazz.. I did the same for the alto and am quite happy, especially since I know an excellent saxophone teacher who is very much a jazzman and he also decided to use this type of reeds.. thanks VANDOREN and the reeds from BORME les mimosas... in the VAR - plus the factory is still in France..

Like many musicians, I have tested many combinations (mouthpieces, reeds, strengths...) and the VANDOREN ZZ 2.5 played on BRANCHER T27 metal mouthpiece is a good match.
