A new kind of microphone preamplifier
The Triton Audio FetHead is a high quality, ultra low noise microphone preamplifier. It provides enhanced sound for ribbon and dynamic microphones. Small, compact yet powerful, the Fethead uses proven FET technology to provide up to 27dB of crisp amplification more. No more cranking up your mic preamp and adding unwanted noise to bring your microphone to an acceptable volume. Boost your mic! Some older ribbon microphones do not tolerate phantom power.

Extremely easy to use
Your Fethead locks directly into any microphone equipped with XLRs, or anywhere else in the signal path between the microphone and the preamp / mixer. The electronics are housed in a rugged metal chassis with a balanced female XLR input and a balanced male XLR output, rugged enough for use at home, in the studio or on tour. Fethead uses phantom power to power its circuits, but does not pass phantom power to the microphone, so rest assured your ribbon mics are safe.

A clear improvement in the sound on the microphones
We noticed an improvement on all the microphones tested. A Shure SM57, for example, sounds more responsive over a wider frequency range. When paired with a high-end dynamic microphone like a Sennheiser MD441 or Shure SM7, our FetHead really shines. Ribbon microphones also benefit greatly due to a much better impedance match. Fethead reduces the load on the microphone, giving it better transient response characteristics. FetHeads low noise signal amplification also extends the range of use of a ribbon microphone, making it more suitable for capturing softer sound sources.

I think the product is good but I must have made a mistake because when I connect it between my microphone and the XLR cable I lose the signal. I will keep looking, there must be a solution.

Super effective for microphones that need a little boost. I gained 20dB with the Rode PodMic and the Steinberg UR22C sound card. Small size, so perfect for mobile recording.
