A Faithful Tribute to the 1073, Designed for Today
Warm Audio designed the "WA73" series to make the legendary character of the 1073 accessible while preserving the spirit of the original circuit. The WA73-EQ is the mono channel version with EQ, hand-assembled and wired, equipped with English Carnhill transformers and Blore Edwards switches, delivering a dense, detailed, and musical sound both in the studio and on stage.
Who Is It For and What Are Its Uses?
Sound engineers, artistic producers, demanding home studios: this preamp/EQ is aimed at those who want a strong analog signature right from the source. Pop/rock vocals, electric guitars, drums, basses in DI or overheads benefit from a rich harmonic grain, beautiful low-mid depth, and silky highs that are easy to shape.
Class A Circuit, Inductance EQ, and Modern Workflow
The Class A preamplification stage offers comfortable gain reserve and progressive saturation when pushing the input level, while the output level control allows adjusting the color without clipping the converters. The "Tone" switch modifies the input impedance of the transformer to adapt the response with different microphones, especially ribbons.
Expanded Musical Equalization
The 3-band inductance EQ follows the British classic approach while adding high frequencies at 12 and 16 kHz compared to the "Vintage 1073," for more air and brilliance when needed. The four-position inductance high-pass filter helps quickly clean unwanted lows right at the source.
Complete Connectivity and Easy Integration
Rear and front XLR mic inputs, balanced line input, Send/Return insert, and front instrument DI facilitate all recording and re-amping setups. Polarity, 48 V phantom power, and Ground Lift switches secure integration in both studio and touring environments.
