True to the Koch tradition, this combo sounds much bigger than it looks and offers a lot of original features. Starting with the 2 EL84 Class A amplification lamps, a newly designed speaker and cabinet, 3 foot selectable channels and 2 voicings selectors, the Studiotone is reminiscent of the 60s English tube amps. channels (clean, overdrive, and overdrive +) deliver hot sounds as well as overdrive and squeezed compression. The 2-position "Mid Shift" selector increases the frequencies around 800 Hz and the "Bright" 3-position selector increases or cuts the high frequencies.
Good surprises are also found on the rear panel of the amp and a quick inspection immediately reveals an effects loop, a recording output with microphone placement simulation and type of speaker, 2 line outputs (the one being unfiltered and the other low level) and a headphone jack output. The speaker output in 4, 8 or 16 Ohms allows any combination of speakers and the speaker selector can cut the speaker to record or use the headphones without being disturbed! There is also an Accutronics © reverb at the adjustable level on the front panel.
