EVH 5150III® 50S 6L6 HEAD
With its reduced size and portability, the all-new EVH® 5150III® 50S 6L6 head is the perfect amp for players who want Eddie Van Halen's live sound in a compact package. Three field-tested channels adapt to all playing styles: clear and precise clean tones, powerful overdrive, tight distortion, and searing leads, while the newly added dual concentric independent controls allow you to tailor gain and volume to your playing level.
Tuned to meet Eddie's touring demands, this 50-watt head delivers a full sonic spectrum. Channel 1 produces a clear and crystalline sound; Channel 2 features increased gain for better sustain and is revoiced for improved bass and midrange definition; Channel 3 also offers an enhanced range for the "low" control and oozes with increased liquid gain. Channels one and two each have dual concentric gain/volume controls with a shared EQ (bass, mid, treble). Channel 3 has its own gain, volume, and EQ controls (bass, mid, treble). All three channels also feature global presence and resonance controls.
The amp is also equipped with seven JJ ECC83 preamp tubes, a pair of Shuguang 6L6 power tubes, switchable output impedance (4, 8, and 16 ohms), and bias control.
Attractive and dark in textured black vinyl, with a dual black steel EVH striped grille, our stealthy 50-watt head also includes two speaker output jacks, a four-button footswitch, an effects loop, a direct output, and a molded plastic handle.
FEROCIOUS TONE WITH EVEN MORE SATURATION
The 5150III® 50S Head represents Eddies latest touring rig in a more compact format that still radiates high-gain intensity, snarling leads, and solid rhythms.
This amp has a heavier side that can handle the extremes of any genre. The three channels (Clean, Crunch, and Lead) deliver signature melodic harmonics with increased gain, all with the unlimited sustain and versatility expected from an amp bearing this name.
Channel 1 sings with sparkling clean tones, while Channel 2 has been enhanced with more aggressive gain for full-on overdrive and Eddies signature rhythmic crunch, and Channel 3 is all the way up, pushing modern gain and distortion ideal for blistering solos.
TAKE CONTROL
Two concentric controls allow you to independently adjust volume and gain for Channels 1 and 2 to tailor the level. Channel 3 has its own gain, low-level, mid-level, high-level, and volume controls. A global presence knob on the front panel provides total control over the ultra-high frequencies, while the global resonance knob on the rear adjusts the power amps low-frequency response.
THE STEALTH SAUCE
Seven JJ ECC83S (12AX7) preamp tubes produce a colossal overdriven sound when pushed to the max, while two premium Shuguang 6L6 power tubes increase the saturation and high gain levels synonymous with Van Halen.
EDDIE'S TOUR MODS
To facilitate his tours, Eddie added a bias port with adjustable potentiometers to his 100S head, allowing you to easily adjust tube voltage for the best tone. This same module is included with this 50-watt set, saving you from having to remove the chassis to access the circuit board.
BACKSTAGE
