Orange Amps MICRO DARK TERROR

Description

WELL, YOU DID ASK FOR IT...
Building on the overwhelming success of our acclaimed Dark Terror and Dual Dark amps, we?ve distilled thousands of customer demands into a pint-sized valve hybrid head ? the Micro Dark.

The Micro Dark shares the same intuitive Shape control combined with a new 12AX7-driven high gain preamp section which yields screaming dirty tones that make a mockery of its miniature frame. Like its bigger brothers, however, the Micro Dark?s smoky black chassis and simple layout actually disguises its cunning versatility.

Of course, there?s plenty of gain on tap to satisfy even the most discerning devotee of distortion, but this little beast is by no means just a one-trick Metal monster! Beneath the menacing exterior you?ll find a rich and diverse pallette of classy and confident tones. From squeaky clean to brash and mean ? whatever your style ? you?re gonna love this thing.

Other features include a transparent fully buffered effects loop and a headphone output with our popular CabSim circuitry. With the optional matching PPC108 speaker cabinet, the Micro Dark makes for a perfect portable practice rig which also mics up superbly in the studio. To properly shake things up however, plug into a full sized Orange PPC412 and unleash the full potential of this remarkable micro amp head.

KEY FEATURES
VALVE/SOLID STATE HYBRID DESIGN
The Micro Dark sports a new high gain circuit which blends valve and solid state technology. The preamp uses single 12AX7/ECC83 valve and produces a huge range of usable tones with warm cleans, smooth overdrive and fat, singing distortion. Its solid state output section puts out 20 Watts and can be can be paired with any 8 or 16 Ohm cabinet.

SHAPE CONTROL
Our exclusive Shape control varies the midrange response whilst interacting with the bass and treble. Working from the 12 o?clock position, a subtle nudge to the left adds more midrange and smooths the highs. A clockwise notch or two reduces the mids and brightens the tone.

At the extremes the Shape?s effect becomes even more pronounced, especially as you begin to push the Gain control. A scooped, thrashy voicing with an aggressive ?smiley face? EQ is easily achieved in the fully clockwise position, whilst turning fully anticlockwise boosts the mids, for a more classic ?bark?.

BUFFERED EFFECTS LOOP
The Micro Dark?s fully buffered, low impedance loop allows for any number of effects and cables to be patched in without sacrificing tone. It?s incredibly transparent, meaning your pedal arsenal will perform to its absolute peak.

CABSIM HEADPHONE OUTPUT
A popular feature on our Crush Series amps, the headphone output includes our CabSim circuitry which faithfully emulates the sound of a mic?d Orange 4×12″ cabinet loaded with our flagship Voice of the World speakers. Use headphones for silent practice or connect to a mixer/recording console to capture huge, authentic Orange tones in the studio.

almost a scale replica of its bigger brothers, don't be fooled when you take it out of the box, it looks like a toy but it is nothing like a toy ho ho ho ho, it moves a 4x12 without problems with quite a lot of body and volume, it doesn't seem like 20w, the clean tones sound very clean having a special touch playing with the potentiometers, but well you can't expect to have clean tones at high volumes, but it depends on the occasion and style it works well, from there you raise volume and gain and the little one starts kicking like a runaway colt hehehehe, but with good and impactful aggressive saturated tones if you want and more classic ones if you also play with the tone, for me contrary to what people think about dark it doesn't mean dark, dark like guttural metal, maybe it has more gain than its white brother, but it is still versatile, maybe for heavy metal speaking that it is a 20w, in my opinion it should be supported with pedals through the effects loop it incorporates. for now I am very happy with the purchase. I am crazy to take it to rehearsal. and since it is a practical lighter it comes home with me. greetings... (Show more)

Incredible amp that delivers a sound literally unmatched in quality and quantity for the size of the case. The clear sound is rock-typed and the saturation allows going from blues to dense and super convincing heavy metal, it's surprising. It sounds as good or even better than my old Marshall Artist 4203!! The three knobs seem to limit adjustment possibilities but the central "shape" knob acts very intelligently on the spectrum (nothing to do with bass/treble). Its useful range is however limited between 10h and 14h, below or above that, it sounds a bit off. but maybe it depends on the pickups. You also have to learn to play with the guitar's pots which allow extending the sound possibilities (attack and triggering of saturation). In short, a bomb.... (Show more)

Unbeatable value for money report, a very small head with a big pair of Balls, a very orange sound, but with an extra dose of rage, and also very versatile

Excellent with eagletone 10". At volume three it already screams in an apartment. With an overdrive in front of the dark. It's magnificent.

a small metal head, to be completed with an overdrive for more clarity and sharpness (orange=bold) 20 w sufficient in a group.

Versatile and powerful for its size. Small format that allows you to take it everywhere, very good in apartments and more ; )

My first amp head, admittedly entry-level from Orange, but with impressive power and a dirty sound when you want. Even paired with Blackstar, it sounds great and loud. The only downside: the few available settings, but for the price, it's perfectly understandable.

nice sturdy box, it rocks for a small 20 w that's exactly the problem, too strong to play in an apartment, don't trust its size and the videos on youtube, honestly very difficult to get a metal sound with it, even by adding a 10 band eq, an overdrive pedal in boost and a guitar with Seymour Duncan pickups and a 2x12 cab playing at volume 1 because louder is impossible with your neighbors, I wanted a micro head precisely to not wake the neighbors and well it's not the right one
