This 7-inch model includes all the features of the 5-inch model, but with a much larger screen. It incorporates two SD card slots for continuous recording. It also includes 2 mini XLR audio inputs with phantom power for direct connection and recording from microphones.
Perfect for digital film, broadcast testing and live production!
Blackmagic Video Assist is suitable for thousands of different tasks. You can integrate it into your camera rig to have a large viewfinder with modern recording codecs, focus assist features and 3D LUTs. The Video Assist is also a portable scope that allows you to test live broadcast and production equipment. This will help ensure that video levels are appropriate and that your hardware is functioning properly. For live production, it is possible to use the Video Assist as a widescreen master recorder or clip player to insert commercials or promotional videos into your live programmes. You can even use it as an independent recorder so that each camera has its own monitor and recorder.
A modern design with state-of-the-art technology and a beautiful display
All Video Assist models incorporate a large touch screen and controls for recording, playing back clips, displaying scopes and adjusting focus assist functions. Both 7-inch models are large enough to offer analog inputs for audio and two SD card slots for continuous recording. Thus, the recording will continue automatically on the second card. Both 12G models incorporate 12G-SDI, HDMI Ultra HD and USB-C connections for direct recording to external flash drives. All models include a rear tally light, a front panel speaker for clip playback and a headphone jack. The Video Assist uses Sony L-series batteries, and thanks to its two slots, you can change batteries without interrupting the recording.
A revolutionary design
Broadcasters use large studio cameras that are expensive and not very mobile. The Blackmagic Studio Camera has all the advantages of a large studio camera because, despite its small size, it is both a camera and a viewfinder. It features a lightweight carbon fiber reinforced polycarbonate housing with innovative technology in a miniaturized design. As the camera is designed for live production, it's easy to follow and frame shots with the large 7" viewfinder. The touchscreen has menus for camera settings, and you also have buttons for brightness, contrast and focus peaking A tripod mount with mounting plate is included for quick setup!
A more ergonomic camera thanks to Video Assist!
Traditional cameras represent a compromise because they are designed to shoot from the shoulder. In addition, spending hours bent over the viewfinder of a camera mounted on a tripod can be laborious. The Video Assist will transform the way you work thanks to its large screen. Indeed, it is much more convenient to place the screen in the place that suits you best. In addition, the operator, assistant and director will benefit from a better overview. You can also choose the size of the monitor between the 5 and 7 inch models depending on your needs. Finally, you will benefit from features like zoom, focus peaking, zebra, histogram, false colors, scopes, framing guides, touch screen and others.
Source Tape mode for scrolling through clips
Marking edit points is one of the most common operations performed by editors. That's why the Speed Editor keyboard includes large in and out point buttons that you can easily locate. This is ideal for two-handed editing, where the right hand is used for transport controls, and the left hand for setting in and out points and performing edits. Just scroll with the wheel and place entry and exit points wherever you want! Once these are set, just move your finger up to reach the editing buttons. In and Out points can also be used to shrink the source tape. You can then reassign the source strip to the entire bin by pressing the Escape key.
