Henle Verlag SARASATE PABLO - ZAPATEADO DANSE ESPAGNOLE N.6 - VIOLON & PIANO

Description

Pablo de Sarasate
Zapateado, Spanish Dance No. 6 for violin and piano

Peter Jost (Publisher)

Ingolf Turban (Fingered violin)

María Nagore Ferrer (Foreword)

For the development of all eight of his eight Spanish dances (HN 1370), Sarasate used already existing material - popular tunes or songs of known authors - which he associated with the delightful musical language of his own. Playera and Zapateado op. 23, Nos. 5 and 6 of the third book of Spanish Dances, were conceived in the summer of 1879. Zapateado is a dance of high virtuosity breathtaking in which the violin can give free rein to all its technical possibilities. The work quickly became one of Sarasate's favorite pieces of bravery in his own career as a violinist. Since then, the piece, also available as a separate partition in the Henle catalog, has lost none of its charm and enjoys great popularity.
