Expressive E Imagine

Description

The Essentials to Know About the Imagine Software

  • Acoustic software synthesizer inspired by the physics and bodies of real instruments to create organic and unique timbres.

  • Designed for expressivity with optimized compatibility for Touché (SE) controllers and integration tailored for rich articulations.

  • Advanced modulation thanks to MSEG (multi-stage envelopes) and a preset library to generate grooves, textures, and complex movements.

  • Large sound library: 440 factory presets (including .TEM versions for Lié), plus dedicated banks for instruments, arpeggios, and modulations.

What is Imagine For?

Imagine is a virtual instrument oriented towards sound design and music production, ideal for composing hybrid acoustic textures, organic pads, modulated rhythms, living drones, or cinematic sounds. Its concept is based on modeled "acoustic" timbres, then extended beyond realism to create original soundscapes, while maintaining a tactile and highly musical playing feel.

Thanks to its expressive approach, Imagine is particularly suited for musicians and producers who want to "play" the sound (nuances, attacks, morphing, vibrations) as much as program it. It naturally integrates into a DAW workflow as an AU/VST/VST3 plug-in, for electronic, pop, ambient, film music, experimental, or any production seeking atypical and modern acoustic timbres.

Main Features

An acoustic synthesizer inspired by real instruments

Imagine is designed as an acoustic software synthesizer: instead of starting from "classic" waves, it draws inspiration from the behavior and resonance of instrument bodies. The result combines an organic identity with great transformation freedom to achieve bold, expressive, sometimes surprising timbres, but always playable and usable in production.

Two instrument layers for hybrid timbres

Imagine's strength lies in its modeled instrument layers that can be combined. Included presets exploit this architecture by pairing two layers to generate unique sonic colors: percussive attacks blending into long resonances, breaths transforming into strings, or textures oscillating between realism and abstraction. This layering logic facilitates creating personal sound signatures without multiplying instances and routings.

An ideal playground for Touché (SE) and expressive playing

Imagine was designed for Expressive E Touché (SE), leveraging continuous and intuitive control to push expressivity: timbre variations, intensity, internal movements, morphing, and articulations responding to touch. Compatibility is provided for Touché (SE) controllers and MIDI legacy use; however, Imagine does not support MPE (and is therefore not designed for Osmose-type MPE control).

"Modulation heaven": MSEG and presets to animate your sounds

For extended expressive possibilities, Imagine includes MSEG (multi-stage envelope generators) allowing fine modulation of any parameter. From simple envelope movements to complex shapes, you quickly get grooves, organic tremors, pulses, evolving textures, or near "living" variations perfectly synchronizable to tempo.

Modulations are accelerated by a collection of MSEG presets, while leaving room for deep customization. Shapes can be adjusted, sculpted, or created from scratch via a dedicated drawing tool, with synchronization, looping, and evolution options to transform a static patch into immediate musical movement usable in a mix.

Optimized macro system for fast workflow

Imagine offers 4 macros assignable to any combination of parameters. This system is ideal for building "performance" controls (one gesture to open a timbre, increase modulation, densify resonance, and raise an effect), efficiently automate within your DAW, or control sound live. Macros promote a clear and visual workflow, particularly relevant for modern sound design.

Effects to sculpt, articulate, and expand space

To finalize and style your sounds without relying on external effects, Imagine includes an effects section designed for creation: stereo delay, reverb, and a vibrato / freq shifter section to add movement and character. A tilt EQ and a compressor-limiter provide additional control over balance and dynamics.

Finally, a unique expressive effects module based on 11 modulation effects opens access to more experimental combinations: rhythmic transformations, controlled instabilities, spectral animations, and variations that reinforce the sonic identity of acoustic layers. The whole is designed to maintain a musical feel whether you work in the studio, film composition, or preset creation.
