What M-Tron Pro IV Is For

M-Tron Pro IV is a virtual instrument designed to bring the Mellotron's sonic signature into your DAW without hardware constraints. It excels at creating vintage pads, flutes, choirs, strings, and cinematic textures that have marked rock history but also fit perfectly in indie, lo-fi, hip hop, and soundtrack music. Whether you're looking for an immediate retro color or material to transform, it becomes an expressive sound bank for composition, arrangement, and sound design.

Main Features

Library and Navigation

With nearly 200 tape banks and over 800 patches (including many presets crafted by artists and programmers), M-Tron Pro IV covers a wide spectrum of Mellotron timbres. The new Presets and Tapes browsers simplify searching by character and speed up access to the right sound at the right time, both in the studio and on stage.

Editing, Performance, and Hybrid Patches

The engine offers 35 individually sampled notes and an extended mode adding seven semitones downward to broaden the range. You can stack two layers (dual layer) or split sounds across the keyboard, then control everything via MIDI Learn and programmable MIDI CC response. Velocity and Poly Aftertouch controls enhance dynamics and expressiveness, ideal for lively and nuanced parts.

"Tape" Character and Built-in Effects

Experience the musical imperfections of the medium with Wow and Flutter featuring instability control, as well as Reverse, half-speed, and "Brake" modes for tape slowdowns and creative pitch effects. The amp simulation adds warmth, noise, and saturation, while a state-variable filter, a new ensemble effect, more flexible LFOs, and a matrix-style reverb provide depth, movement, and polish. Individual FX locks make it easy to design coherent presets even during rapid library browsing.
