What GForce Oberheim OB-X Is For

GForce Oberheim OB-X is a virtual instrument designed to recreate the broad, warm, and punchy character of vintage polysynths while adapting to the demands of modern productions. It excels in Electronica, EDM, Drum and Bass, Ambient, Hip Hop, Rock, and Prog Rock, creating thick basses, singing leads, evolving pads, dynamic arpeggios, and instant chords. Whether you're looking for an iconic retro color or a more complex modern texture, OB-X integrates naturally into a studio workflow (DAW) as well as standalone use.

Main Features

An Authentic OB-X, Enhanced for the Modern Studio

At its core, the emulation aims for a "hardware" feel: musical response, rich timbre, and organic behavior. The Vintage control adds subtle analog imperfections to thicken chords or make unison and pads more lively. Polyphony up to 16 voices and per-voice panning facilitate wide stereo images, ideal for cinematic pads and modern stacks.

X-Modifiers: Fast Modulations, Complex Results

The X-Modifier technology opens an extended playground: dedicated LFOs and envelopes (X-LFO, X-ADSR) allow modulation of a large number of parameters without tedious routing. The result: complex yet always musical movements, perfect for evolving textures, rhythmic sweeps, pulses, and expressive transitions.

Playing, Groove, and Finishing Touches

For playing and performance, OB-X offers 4 programmable Macros to control multiple parameters with one gesture, as well as extended Velocity controls and programmable Aftertouch. On the creative side, there is an arpeggiator and a Chord mode with scales, ideal for quick composition. Finally, built-in effects (Chorus, Stereo Delay, Reverb) allow finalizing a sound ready to record without multiplying plugins.
