Description

Essential Information About VSM IV Software

  • 46 classic and rare string machines sampled to recreate ultra-organic vintage pads, from the Solina to pioneering ensembles.
  • Dual layer + keyboard split to merge two instruments and create hybrid patches impossible to achieve on the original machines.
  • 1900+ presets (including 200+ new) and over 11.5 GB of content for fast production.
  • VSM IV new features: resizable interface, patch/instrument browsers, wow and flutter, new effects and editing functions (undo/redo, copy/paste).

What VSM IV Is For

VSM IV (Virtual String Machine) is a virtual instrument designed to create synthetic string pads and ensemble textures typical of the 70s/80s, ideal for pop, synthwave, ambient, techno, film music, or any production needing a rich and warm sound bed. Thanks to its "string machine" philosophy and layer-based approach, it excels both for soft, enveloping pads and for brighter, lively, and expressive strings.

Main Features

Vintage library and hybrid patches

With sounds from 46 machines, VSM IV covers a wide spectrum of string ensembles, from the first commercial string ensembles (like the Eminent 310 and Freeman String Symphonizer) to the iconic Solina, Elka Rhapsody, Logan String Melody, Korg PE2000, and many more. The dual layer allows stacking two sources to create unique combinations, while the keyboard split facilitates performances and arrangements.

Modern workflow and quick navigation

VSM IV introduces a fully resizable interface and patch and instrument browsers designed to quickly find the right timbre among the 1900+ patches. The Undo, Redo, Copy, and Paste functions make programming smoother, ideal for exploring, comparing, and refining a sound without breaking inspiration.

Character, movement, and expressivity

To replicate the behavior of vintage instruments, the new Wow and Flutter controls add realistic and musical instability. On the sound design side, VSM IV enriches the palette with an alternative state-variable filter, new LFO modulation possibilities (pitch, filter, pan, level), as well as an extended effects section: chorus, additional ensemble, matrix reverb, and 3-band equalizer. The Poly Aftertouch, Velocity, and Poly Pitchbend controls enhance playability for more lively and expressive pads.
