What Omnisphere 2 Is For

Omnisphere 2 is designed for sound design, composition, and contemporary music production. It excels in electronic music (EDM, techno, house), pop, hip-hop, ambient, and film music, as well as experimental textures. Its sound library, combined with powerful synthesis engines, allows the creation of immersive pads, expressive leads, punchy basses, evolving sequences, and cinematic atmospheres.

Main Features

Synthesis Engines and Oscillators

The "Synth Oscillator" includes over 400 DSP waveforms and an audio import module to transform your samples into sound material. The "New Granular Synthesis" paves the way for moving textures, while the "Wavetable Synthesis" morphing makes all waveforms dynamic. FM/Ring modulations and up to 10 oscillators per patch enable timbres ranging from subtle to radical.

Modulations, Filters, and Control

The Dual Filter architecture offers more than 28 algorithms in series or parallel, for analog, digital, or experimental characters. The "Flex-Mod" modulation system recalls modular synth routing, supported by 6 LFOs per patch and 8 envelopes in ADSR or multi-breakpoint format for fine dynamic control.

Navigation and Performance

The redesigned interface speeds up searching with the Mini-Browser, "Sound Match," and "Sound Lock" to explore and lock key elements of a sound. Stack Mode manages splits, layers, and complex crossfades, while Live Mode facilitates real-time transitions and overlays. Eight independent arpeggiators with "Groove Lock" synchronize your patterns to the groove of your session.

Effects and Content

Omnisphere 2 adds 25 new effect processors, 8 new filter types, and 3000 new patches. It includes the "Spotlight EDM" library and a creative psycho-acoustic bank to push beyond virtual analog limits and sculpt unique textures.

The essential Omnisphere is indeed indispensable if you want to produce music faster and with high-end sounds. Very simple and sober interface, not necessarily very aesthetic but oh so effective. Everything is very organized, and you find sounds sorted by style, by mood or emotions, possibility to search for sounds more or less similar to a sound found with one click, and a wide choice for all styles. Which is very satisfying when you are very eclectic. Two small drawbacks noted so far: a few acoustic piano sounds would have been a plus, and I have not (or not yet) found the perfect bass sound that I expected to find with this product. Note: I have only been using this product for a week.

I had been dreaming about it for two good years. I have not regretted my purchase. More than 14,000 presets... an orgy... Not everything is usable by far, but so inspiring. And the infinite possibilities offered are simply exponential. I love this synth, I highly recommend it for all genres. Very very good.

Easy installation thanks to the usb flash drive. The synth is now essential.. However, additional banks will need to be planned, as the bass and acoustic piano sounds are nonexistent (or almost), in the base steam. Remarkable architecture and processing in any case.
