Description

Essential Information About the Roland Synthesizer "FANTOM-06"

  • 61-key keyboard velocity-sensitive in a lightweight chassis, designed for live and studio use.
  • ZEN-Core, SuperNATURAL Acoustic/Electric Piano, and VTW Organ engines for premium and expressive sounds.
  • Expandable platform: EXZ/EXSN/EXM, import/export of Tones and Scenes, backup compatibility with FANTOM-6/7/8.
  • Complete production with 16-track sequencer, KBD/PAD samplers, 5.5" touchscreen, and 24 bit/96 kHz USB audio interface.

The Agile Link in the FANTOM Range

Part of Roland's workstation lineage, the FANTOM-06 concentrates the ZEN-Core sound DNA and SuperNATURAL pianos in an ultra-mobile 61-note format. Management of 16 zones, import/exportable Scenes, and backup compatibility with FANTOM-6/7/8 models make it a modern and sustainable control center, ideal for driving a hybrid hardware/software setup.

For Keyboardists, Producers, and Composers

Designed to shine on stage and in the studio, the FANTOM-06 targets versatile keyboardists, beatmakers, and composers of electronic, pop, hip-hop, ambient, synthwave, or soundtrack music. Its pad-based workflow, 16-track sequencer, and learning tools (metronome, arpeggiator, "Chord Memory," "Rhythm Patterns") support both ambitious beginners and experienced users seeking a fast and inspiring workstation.

Features and Innovations

The sound engine combines ZEN-Core synthesis (subtractive/VA) with SuperNATURAL modeling for highly realistic acoustic/electric pianos, complemented by the VTW Organ. You have access to over 3,500 sounds and more than 90 kits, Tone Remain on 8 zones for smooth transitions, a 16-track sequencer (real-time, step, "TR-REC") with tactile "piano roll" editing, and a professional effects ecosystem (MFX per part, inserts, global TFX, chorus, reverb, compressor, vocoder). Performance-wise, enjoy a 4x4 PAD Sampler, multi-sample keyboard sampler, a Scenes chain for live use, and full connectivity: 24/96 USB Audio/MIDI multichannel, MIDI DIN, AIRA LINK. Model Expansions EXM and EXZ/EXSN series via Roland Cloud extend the instrument over time.

Use
I hesitated for a long time with other instruments in the same category. I absolutely do not regret my purchase. Roland has worked a lot on the user interface and the workflow is particularly efficient. You focus on the music and not on endless menus. The sounds are effective, the keyboard particularly pleasant, the controls numerous and assignable. I regret the limited storage size and the absence of aftertouch. But for that, you have to take its big brother. If these two points are not blocking, this instrument offers excellent value for money.
