ACB (Analogue Circuit Behaviour) brings authentic analogue sounds to life in a digital environment by faithfully recreating analogue circuits and all the behaviours resulting from the interaction of their components. FANTOM EX incorporates three ACB instruments with the latest enhancements, including Circuit Mod and Condition functions that provide varying degrees of age and operating status.
JUPITER-8 ACB extension.
Released in 1981, the JUPITER-8 is one of the most sought-after and beloved polyphonic synths of all time. The ACB JUPITER-8 Extension is a complete circuit-level recreation of this vintage icon for FANTOM EX.
ACB Extension SH-101.
The SH-101 ACB Extender for FANTOM EX is an ultra-detailed sonic replica of Roland's famous 1982 SH-101, a powerful monophonic synth that continues to inspire and be used in electronic music around the world.
ACB JX-3P Extension.
Released in 1983, the iconic JX-3P marked an era of elegant looks, easy access to presets and stable tuning thanks to digitally controlled oscillators. Sounding exactly like the original, the ACB JX-3P Extension teleports this 1980s underground classic to your JUPITER EX.
The JUPITER-8 and SH-101 ACB Extensions are pre-installed. The JX-3P is available as a free download from Roland Cloud for FANTOM EX owners and purchasers of FANTOM EX Upgrade for older FANTOMs.
The flexible, expandable ZEN-Core synthesis system brings together decades of Roland research and development to deliver a wide range of acoustic, electronic and hybrid sounds. Develop nuanced, expressive timbres with up to four partials, each with its own oscillator, filter, amplifier, dual LFO and effects. n/zyme Modelling Extension
n/zyme is a totally modern instrument, containing a brand new Roland synthesis generator developed for the FANTOM environment. Combining stacked wavetable oscillators, phase and shape modulation, resonance filters and two incredibly powerful step LFOs, n/zyme is a highly interactive musical tool that induces endless creativity.

The vintage-inspired JD-800, JUNO-106, JUPITER-8, JX-8P, and SH-101 Modeling Extensions capture the essence of Roland's legendary instruments by adding expanded polyphony and other features for today's creators.
World-renowned pianos
The acoustic piano is a fundamental instrument for all keyboardists. FANTOM EXs use our V-Piano and SuperNATURAL technologies to create pianos that feel and sound real. The V-Piano interface has been redesigned for ease of use, and the German Concert V-Piano 01 extension developed for the RD-2000 is pre-installed. The basic SuperNATURAL acoustic and electric pianos are also present alongside the new SuperNATURAL Acoustic Piano 3 extension.
Essential organs
Roland's Virtual ToneWheel generator faithfully recreates the sound creation process of vintage organs and incorporates several types of virtual wheels with settings for percussion, key click, leakage and more. A rich rotary speaker effect with variable speed, brake control and tube distortion is also present. The touchscreen, sliders and buttons, and keyboard response are automatically configured to produce the feel of an authentic organ, with its physical controllers and immediate playability.

Home studio integration
A FANTOM EX connects effortlessly to any computer-based music system. You get touch-sensitive controllers and dedicated modes for popular software platforms like Ableton Live, Logic Pro, MainStage, Cubase and Studio One. Thanks to the built-in 16x3 USB audio/MIDI interface, you can mix and layer software synths with hardware sounds, send sequencer parts to recording tracks, route software sounds to FANTOM EX effects, and more.
The rear panel of a FANTOM EX allows you to connect to virtually any type of device. Microphones and instruments plug into XLR combo connectors, and eight 1/4’ jack outputs are dedicated to routing sounds to external devices. It's easy to control MIDI instruments and software synths directly from the touchscreen. Modular and analogue synthesizers can also be controlled via the dual CV/Gate output.
A sampling station
With a FANTOM EX, you have the choice of sampling internal or external sources, or both at the same time. These samples are then triggered by the built-in pads, or the keyboard if you want different pitches. You can also create incredibly detailed multisamples, layering up to 352 samples per sound. You can even use samples as the basis for a ZEN-Core sound, taking sound design to new dimensions.
The composer's toolbox
FANTOM EX is a powerful platform for rapid music composition. Clip-based operation lets you create arrangements on the fly. The 16 RGB pads are designed to trigger sounds, clips and patterns. You can use the TR-REC step sequencer as well as record sounds in real time. The large touchscreen and intuitive Piano Roll editing mode allow you to fine-tune the content of each track.

A FANTOM EX is packed with on-demand effects from Roland's library, ready to give your various parts colour, width and depth. The new Modulation and Shimmer reverb algorithms offer the same quality as the best stand-alone reverbs on the market.
