Collision Devices TARS DLX

The TARS DLX revisits the Fuzz + Filter concept, as well as the features of the original TARS. It can be used as an audio tool or as an artistic effect pedal, creating saturated sound sweeps and grainy textures. It offers sound control that is twice as precise as the original TARS by adding a second filter dedicated to high frequencies, making it a unique effect pedal. For live performances, it is easier to use it in a standing position thanks to the new Crash footswitch. In terms of design, it features a luxurious anodized aluminum finish and retains its custom-made, saucer-style potentiometers, specifically created for the TARS model. It is suitable for all types of instruments, particularly 6, 7, or 8-string guitars, bass guitars, and synthesizers.

Fuzz

  • Master: Master volume.
  • Gain: Placed after the input buffer stage and followed by silicon gain and clipping stages.
  • Blast: Amount of feedbacked fuzz when engaging the Crash footswitch. Can self-oscillate depending on your gain setting.

Analog Filters

  • Low Pass Filter CutOff: Cutoff frequency of the MS-20 style low pass filter, based on an LM13700 stage, going from 15Hz to 44kHz.
  • LPF Resonance: Intensity of the signal around the cutoff frequency.
  • Filter Volume: VCA - Output volume of the filter.
  • 2p/4p toggle switches: Attenuation curve, cut at -12dB/octave (2p) or at -24dB/octave (4p).
  • High Pass Filter CutOff: Cutoff frequency of the MS-20 style high pass filter, based on an LM13700 stage, going from 30Hz to 22kHz.
  • HPF Resonance: Intensity of the signal around the cutoff frequency.

Crispy

  • Add Fuzz (long press Crash footswitch): Adds an extra unfiltered fuzz signal, creating a nice phasing effect and frequencies boost or cut depending on the cutoff position.
  • Serial / Parallel switch: Puts the fuzz into the filter or use both effects in parallel.
  • LPF/HPF Expression switch: Select which filter is controlled by the expression pedal.
  • Expression/CV: The Expression/CV control is linked to the cutoff fader of your choice.
  • Blast (short press Crash footswitch): Adds feedback to the fuzz, can create notes and self-oscillate.
