The Butter Machine was developed in collaboration with Michael Landau to create his ideal distortion pedal. Vemuram built countless prototypes, which took them over two years of research and development. As Michael used the prototypes during his sessions and tours, they were able to gather his feedback and target precisely the sound he was looking for. In addition, new ideas were formulated and various improvements made by testing the prototypes during his recording sessions and in his home studio in Los Angeles. The result was a "new kind" of distortion pedal, easy to use and offering a wide range of possibilities. It lets you control the nuances and dynamics of your playing, allowing you to go from overdrive to full distortion with delightful ease. What Michael Landau has to say: "In the past I've used an SD9 as a high-gain pedal, it was my main distortion pedal for many years, but I've always had a conflicted relationship with it as it can be strident and overly compressed if not set up correctly.... So a few years ago, I asked Daiya (CEO of Vemuram) if he could design a distortion pedal that would have the positive sonic qualities of the SD9, but without the overly compressed harshness of the high frequencies. We used the SD9 as a starting point, but this new Vemuram distortion pedal is of course of superior quality and features many improvements. In addition to the Gain, Volume and Tone knobs, there are two potentiometers that allow you to adjust this pedal in a unique way. The final version of this new Vemuram distortion pedal offers a perfectly open and natural overdrive feel. It has gain and sustain for days... while remaining clear, punchy and stable when you reduce the volume of your guitar.
