The MK 41 effectively attenuates diffuse sound energy and produces clear, "neutral/raw" sound. Its polar pattern is exceptionally independent of frequency: side and rear sounds are strongly attenuated, but captured without false coloration. This feature has made the MK 41 an international standard for indoor filming sound.
The sensitivity of the MK 41 to acoustic feedback is lower than that of any other SCHOEPS capsule type, provided that no loudspeaker radiates directly from the rear. The minimum sensitivity of the supercardioid occurs at an angle of incidence of approximately 125°.
The directional effect is frequency independent, so diffuse and off-axis sounds are picked up without false coloration, resulting in a natural sound. This is a real advantage compared to hyperdirectional Canon microphones, which have a significantly greater directivity only at high frequencies, and a frequency response (and therefore sound quality) which depends on the direction of incidence of the sound.
