The synthesizers that have elevated the Arturia brand to the pantheon of historic synthesizer brands. Whether it’s the MiniBrute, which was an unprecedented bestseller, the MiniBrute 2 that all schools and young musicians are fighting over, the MatrixBrute that you see everywhere today, and now the PolyBrute voted synth of the year: with the Brute series you are touching Analog Synthesis with a capital A.
The Brute series is at the origin of the return of analog synthesizers. Arturia now offers a whole range from semi-modular monophonic to polyphonic allowing morphing.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Arturia wanted to make a mark in electronic music history. Here is the PolyBrute, the polyphonic and evolved version of the MatrixBrute. A world first: it allows analog morphing.
A polyphonic analog synthesizer with 6 voices and more
We don’t know what secret and ingenious recipe Arturia found to give more than 6 voices to an instrument that physically really has 6 voices. But what is certain is that it works! You can chain chords with sounds having release without hearing voice cuts. It’s magical!
Analog morphing: a world first
Who hasn’t dreamed of morphing with sound material to hear the sound twist? Arturia has just made your dream come true: each patch of the PolyBrute has a sound A and a sound B. Then, by using the morphing knob you will gradually hear your sound A transform into sound B: guaranteed effect.
Plenty of controls and controllers
The strength of analog sound is its modulation capacity. By integrating an incredible number of controllers, Arturia lets you control whatever you want with whatever you desire: in addition to the modulation matrix of the MatrixBrute and its aftertouch, you will have here Morphée: a magnificent X-Y-Z pad and a two-pole ribbon embedded in the wood. Add morphing and imagine the control power you have.
A high-end digital multi-effects
Direct heritage from the plugins developed for the AudioFuse audio interface, Arturia integrates a magnificent multi-effects within the PolyBrute: Hall reverb, plate, Brigade Bucket, chorus, flanger, phaser, delay, and many other effects are available for each sound you create.
The PolyBrute, pure 6-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer, relies on technology and a sound already awarded to provide the polyphonic synthesis you expect. PolyBrute has an extended morphing architecture and a 61-key expressive keyboard that will allow you to get a sound no synthesizer has ever produced before. Brute Evolution: The PolyBrute is generously equipped with potentiometers, sliders, and buttons to offer the best possible experience on an analog synthesizer of this power. Each purely analog voice is a powerful sound tool equipped with two versatile Brute VCOs, a wide-spectrum noise generator, an enhanced Steiner multimode filter, a custom 24db Ladder low-pass filter, 3 LFOs, 3 envelope generators, and more. They are all accessible in the matrix to bring you routing flexibility normally reserved for modular systems. Use the 6 voices of PolyBrute in polyphony, split, or layer – and stack them in Unison mode when you want to blow the paint off the walls. The total sum is an infinite palette of sounds ranging from beauty to beast. Morph or modulate? Imagine being able to sweep all parameters at once. PolyBrute goes even further, with each preset existing in two states simultaneously – and a dedicated Morph button that lets you morph seamlessly between them, revealing an infinite continuum of inspiring new sounds between the two. The pitch and multifunction wheels provide familiar expressivity, with flexible parameter assignment. There is even an assignable ribbon just above the keyboard, ready to be slid and tapped. The three-dimensional Morphée touchpad is arguably the heart of this expressive capability. This revolutionary feature offers control over 3 axes of patch morphing, sequence/arpeggiator randomization, or up to 32 matrix modulations assigned per axis – adding a truly unique organic touch. Finally, PolyBrute is equipped with expansive modulation functions. Say no to static basslines and monotonous chord tracking; use 3 LFOs and 3 envelope generators to inject organic movement and dynamics like never before. Enter the matrix Instant access to 768 memories. No menus, no waiting – like everything else on PolyBrute. The matrix is the digital brain of PolyBrute’s analog heart; a flexible and convenient interface with multiple functions that can be tailored to your performance, recording, or composition needs. In Mods mode, the matrix button grid is a digital patchbay, allowing you to easily route any of your modulation sources and controllers to influence just about any analog parameter you can think of. With 64 connections and up to 32 modulation destinations, you are fully empowered to make magic with this synthesizer. In sequencer mode, the matrix becomes a visual interface showing everything you need to create polyphonic sequences, arpeggios, and revolutionary hybrids. In addition to notes, you can also record and replay your synthesizer’s parameter changes, turning the sequencer into a whole new modulation source to inject energy into your tracks and performances. A heavenly interface The PolyBrute puts all this analog power front and center with dedicated buttons and switches, making diving into menus and memorizing tortuous paths a thing of the past. Almost everything you touch also generates MIDI, so you can capture every move within your productions with your DAW. Need instant vibe? Crank up the Brute factor of the enhanced Steiner filter. Want to change the cutoff of both filters at once? Grab the Master Cutoff knob. Want to shake the foundations? Edit the sub-oscillator of VCO 2. It’s all there, right in front of you. For a beautiful neo-vintage look, a wooden foot set is available as an option. Back? Forward? Sequence The PolyBrute is equipped with powerful sequencing and arpeggiator capabilities. Use the matrix in sequencer mode to launch a 64-step sequence and step away from the keys to focus on real-time modulation and dynamic tweaking. Add velocity, accents, slides, and randomization for a sequence that evolves and responds to every musical nuance. Instantly generate animated arpeggios in multiple musical directions, optionally repeated in higher octaves. Go further with Matrix Arpeggiator mode, with a 16-step hybrid frame that lets you generate complex arpeggiated textures – a whole new realm of assisted performance! Stereo polyphony For a polyphonic synth to truly shine, depth is not enough – spatialization is a must. The PolyBrute is equipped with left and right asymmetrical 6.35 mm jack outputs for the main stereo audio output, with functions specially designed to make the most of the stereo field. The stereo displacement of voices can be controlled in the output section. This allows subtle panning of each of the 6 voices left and right at varying degrees, letting you go from a centralized and focused sound to a wider-than-life immersive width. Additionally, the dual filter can be placed in parallel, allowing for a discrete stereo sound. In this mode, the left and right channels can have different evolving sounds that can be manipulated with morphing functions. Finally, a built-in set of high-quality digital effects adds the finishing touch to your patches in stereo mode. We included the favorite algorithms from our critically acclaimed FX Collection software, as well as new reverbs and delays to take advantage of the PolyBrute’s stereo architecture. Even better, you can modulate parameters of some effects with the modulation matrix for lively spatialization and extraordinary texture.
