Bach had a preference for solo works written for instruments usually accompanied by keyboard. Thus, it is logical that besides the violin and cello, he also applied his characteristic melodic construction to the flute, to which he managed to give the illusion of polyphony through the skillful use of broken chords. It clearly emerges that Bach's singing cantilenas are just as convincing without the support of the accompanying chords of a keyboard instrument. A pinnacle of the flute repertoire!
