The pieces found in "Bravo! Percussion" gradually guide the student through the early levels. They are mostly original pieces, but there are also some arrangements – some famous, others more unusual. These pieces aim to encourage the student to interpret – rather than just play – whenever possible. All too often, the first steps in learning an instrument can be a rather solitary endeavor. These pieces should be played with their piano accompaniment whenever possible. By listening to the piano parts, it will be possible to become aware of and appreciate different musical styles and the sense of harmony, not just melody. Moreover, by playing with accompaniment, the student develops the ability to maintain their own part while listening to another. And of course, it's great fun!
