The API 505 DI is specifically designed to accept direct guitar, bass or keyboard input while minimizing any loading effects on Hi-Z instrument mics. Additionally, the 505-DI's gain control is used to normalize an instrument's input level, down to an output level of +4 dBu. The API's unique TONE control reduces potential low-frequency "mud" in the signal, while activating the BRIGHT switch adds additional clarity if desired. Different combinations of TONE and BRIGHT controls can eliminate the need for EQ on the instrument during recording, keeping the signal path short and pure.
