It's near my home, a large preserved area, a natural park (Harriman State Park), small mountains belonging to the vast Appalachian system, covered with forests, dotted with lakes, artificial or natural. A road runs through the Park from end to end, it is the Seven Lakes Drive. It winds through the hills, offering views of the seven lakes in turn. Horn calls, winding melodies, lead to more stable, more harmonic sound beaches, lakes of music, all similar, all different. Technically, the piece relies on the natural harmonic resonances of the horn and piano.
