In composing this Rhapsody for the international Sax N' Dole competition, Alexis Ciesla sought to balance as best as possible the demanding aspect that such a commission entails with music accessible to a wide audience. Thus, while using the instrument's upper register, an omnipresent virtuosity, opening up playing possibilities with slap techniques, bisbligliando, or improvisation, he never ceased to conceive this composition in its musical dimension. The rhapsodic nature of the piece allowed him to approach with density and abundance the lyrical and expressive aspect of the saxophone, its range of nuances and colors as well as its ability to impress us and make us dance.
