Description

classic SG bass was the historic factory’s sole electric bass.

But the EB “SG” bass was by no means a cast-off. It quickly became one of the most attractive and distinctive basses in rock and players like Bill Wyman of The Rolling Stones, Cream’s Jack Bruce, and The Who’s John Entwistle made rock history on SG-style basses. Now, Epiphone presents the EB-3, a stunning recreation of the vintage marvel with all the tone and feel of the original without the vintage price tag and vintage problems.

The Epiphone EB-3 comes with Epiphone’s Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson 24/7/365 customer service. Visit your Authorized Epiphone dealer today and discover the sound of a legend with the EB-3 bass.

Two days after ordering, my EB3 was delivered... finally the paper was in my mailbox. It took three better days because the Chronopost delivery guy had some "issues." Now I try to go through private companies like UPS or Fedex whose delivery times are always respected! I'm rather for public service but well... Let's talk about the device: Unlike the Epi EB-0, there is a glued neck, like on a real Gibson. Another "detail," it is a long scale bass (unlike the EB-0). The finish is impeccable, the neck is thin, the frets well adjusted. Apart from the shape of the headstock and the Epiphone logo, I don't really see the difference with a real EB from the parent company. The only downside: I had to tighten the varitone (pickup selector) which was a bit loose in its cavity. Sound-wise, the neck pickup delivers in the very low register. Listen to "Are you gonna go my way" by Kravitz, that's exactly it, a dull and deep sound but with dynamics. The bridge pickup is, in my opinion, too bright and sharp (very close to the bridge) but mixed in small doses with the big neck pickup it adds clarity and definition to the sound. Playing heavy rock, it's exactly the sound I was looking for. The sound is punchy in the bass without being overwhelming in the other frequencies. Suits very well a "hard hitter" like me. On the other hand, I doubt it's nirvana for slappers and other melodists.... (Show more)

By its sound, this bass is very rock or hard rock oriented, and can also hold its own in electric blues or old-school soul. I wouldn't recommend it to a bassist looking for a versatile instrument, as the two pickups are difficult to mix together to find a balanced tone. The neck is very pleasant to play, and the instrument responds well to both pick and finger playing. The finish is very well done for a Chinese instrument. However, when playing standing up, the instrument tends to tilt forward sharply; this is a common drawback with Gibson and Epiphone, and although there are ways to compensate, you can't avoid it. The only problem that escaped quality control is that, originally, the adjustment screws of the bridge, the truss rod, and the pickup selector nut were completely loose. For those who don't know how to adjust their instrument, I therefore recommend a visit to a technician as soon as you receive it.... (Show more)

Apart from the fact that Gibson likes to be desired, this bass is very well made, just waiting to receive it. but well it's not WoodBrass's fault... I will know how to wait.... I will give a second opinion on the qualities of this bass once I have received it
