Description

Essential Information About the Gibson E1 Bass SG

  • Iconic SG Look: the Gibson SG silhouette adapted to bass format, lightweight and instantly recognizable.
  • Ultra Comfortable Playability: short 30.5" / 774.7 mm scale length, slim neck, and excellent access to the upper frets.
  • Big Gibson Sound: Sidewinder humbucking pickup for dense lows and a well-defined character.
  • Mahogany Construction: mahogany body and neck for a warm response and natural sustain.

An SG Designed to Make the Gibson Spirit Accessible to Bassists

With the Gibson E1 Bass SG, the brand adapts the SG aesthetic to bass to offer an instrument with authentic style and immediate playability. Its compact format and "plug and play" approach make it an ideal bass for entering the Gibson universe without complications.

Who Is It For, and In Which Styles?

Thanks to its short scale and slim neck, this bass is well suited for beginner to intermediate bassists seeking a smooth feel under the fingers, as well as guitarists transitioning to bass. Its tonal character expresses itself particularly well in rock, classic rock, blues, and pop, with a clear attack and present lows in the mix.

The Sound

The combination of mahogany body and mahogany neck provides a warm signature, with generous low-mids and naturally rounded sustain. The Sidewinder humbucking pickup reinforces this foundation: the low end remains thick, the mids are full, and the sound retains a true "vintage" personality. The result is an expressive bass, capable of being both broad in accompaniment and precise for lines that need to stand out.

Use
a magnificent bass a very good sound it feels very good in the hand the neck is quite thin I would say its only flaw is that when playing standing up the head tends to lift but apart from that it is really perfect and those who say that access to the highs is difficult firstly it is a bass created mainly to make low sounds not too much highs and then it is really without difficulty that I access it (I have big hands but not to that extent x)

Light, short (thanks to periarthritis..), sounds good 60s/70s style, very well finished. Packaging and Woodbrass service REALLY EXCELLENT! Thank you Woodbrass, thank you Epiphone :) I just have to transform it into 'the Frog' :P
