Designed in collaboration with the world-renowned bass accessory manufacturer Darkglass Electronics, the DarkRay offers a whole new range of sonic possibilities.
At the heart of every instrument is its tone: in this case, a modern 2-band equalizer preamplifier was designed by Darkglass specifically for the DarkRay. This preamp offers three modes with very distinct and useful sounds: Clean, Alpha (distortion), and Omega (fuzz). The two distortion circuits are fully blendable via an integrated gain knob and a mix control adjusted according to the user's preferences. It is possible to achieve an amazingly clear sound, a slight gain, or a brutal fuzz sound, all without loss in the low frequencies. A bright LED ring and the 3-way toggle switch indicate the mode the bass is in.
The DarkRay is a true Stingray Special with its neodymium humbucking pickup, roasted maple neck, contoured body, 22 stainless steel frets, and familiar 4+1 headstock configuration.
