The Epiphone Songmaker DR-100 has established itself as one of the brand's most popular acoustics. Designed to offer the essentials of an effective dreadnought (volume, comfort, reliability) at an accessible price, it follows a simple and proven formula: lutherie focused on projection, classic woods, and straightforward equipment. Note: it was formerly called "DR-100" and remains a frequent choice both for beginners and as a "plug and play" guitar to play anywhere.

With its SlimTaper C-profile neck, the DR-100 is particularly suitable for beginners who want an easy-to-handle neck, as well as intermediate players looking for a versatile dreadnought acoustic. It is well suited to pop, folk, acoustic rock, and energetic strumming, while remaining comfortable for fingerpicking when playing more softly.


Sound


The combination of a spruce top and mahogany body delivers a balanced voice: spruce provides brightness, precision, and good dynamics, while mahogany enhances the mids and adds natural warmth. The dreadnought shape promotes strong projection and a present bass, highlighting chord rhythms and vocal-guitar accompaniment. The result is a direct acoustic sound with decent sustain, designed to "fill the room" without effort.

To protect it, you can opt for a AJ/Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Hard Case 940-EDREAD or the EpiLite Dread/AJ Acoustic Guitar Case 940-EDREADHG (sold separately). For maintenance and playing feel, the DR-100 comes with a gauge .013 to .056: if you want to keep the same tension and tonal balance, choose acoustic strings in the same gauge.

Good guitar, pleasant to play, for the price it is excellent! To see over time, but to start with a folk or to have a backup guitar for camping/vacations, I find it perfect!! Only downside, the original strings which really leave much to be desired: I got scared when unpacking! Take an extra set of strings to change them as soon as you receive the package;-) Fast woodbrass delivery and well-protected package, thank you woodbrass!

This is my first guitar and it convinced me. My guitarist friend and I find it very well finished and with beautiful bass tones. The body might be a bit large for me as I am quite petite, but apart from that, nothing to complain about. I recommend this guitar to any beginner.
