Overview: The M1 LR Baggs is a humbucker pickup, very popular among many artists, and for good reasonits not just any pickup. Indeed, the pickup captures the vibrations of both the strings and the guitar body for a warm and natural reproduction. The secret of the M1 pickup lies in the Dynamic 3D Technology® designed by Gary Garret and Lloyd Baggs. In a standard vertical humbucker, the second coil (the lower one) cancels hum but does not positively contribute to the sound. In fact, it can sometimes dampen the main coils tone. LR Baggs has therefore isolated it to provide a positive contribution to the sound while preserving the main coils tone, but without the hum... In the M1, the noise-cancelling coil is suspended beneath the main coil by a mount that allows it to respond in three dimensions. The main coil reacts via the soundboard and creates a signal in the second coil. The combined sound of the strings and soundboard brings the M1 pickup to life. Its like having two pickups inside your soundhole.
Now equipped with a Class A preamp, the M1 LR Baggs reaches a whole new level, giving birth to the M1 Active. Thanks to its integrated preamp, the M1 Active eliminates the need for an external preamp and makes it fully compatible with any external equipment. LR Baggs even designed an onboard volume control, easily accessible in all situations and avoiding any routing in the guitars side.
