Power and DSP
Each LYD-48 is tri-amplified (50 W Tweeter / 50 W Midrange / 80 W Woofer) by class-D amplifiers featuring 96 kHz / 24-bit resolution, plus a cleverly used DSP that offers the ability to extend or reduce the low-frequency response down to 10 Hz as needed; while the “Position” and “Sound Balance” controls ensure the best possible performance for any mixing or listening environment.
Handmade Drivers The LYD-48 benefits from Dynaudio’s legendary soft silk dome tweeter with a lightweight aluminum voice coil to reproduce highs in a natural and transparent way. The aluminum coating on the copper significantly reduces the moving coil’s weight while improving the driver’s thermal behavior (less thermal distortion). Furthermore, this type of tweeter does not resonate in the high frequencies, sparing you from the buzzing noise that can plague other designs. This allows you to work for long hours without auditory fatigue.
For mid and low frequencies, the 4" and 8" Dynaudio drivers are handmade from magnesium silicate polymer (MSP), which offers a perfect balance between stiffness, weight, and damping. Combined with the superior thermal behavior of aluminum and the woofer’s die-cast aluminum basket, the overall sound performance is improved with less thermal distortion. Using aluminum, which is lighter than copper, allows for a larger diameter voice coil. This results in increased cooling and enables our flat cone design to provide better off-axis frequency response and means the transient response is extremely fast.
