SiX

The SiX is a compact analog mixing console ideal for the studio, developed in the pure tradition of the SSL brand. Incredibly complete with its 6 channels (2 SuperAnalogue mic/line & 2 stereo line level), its external inputs and Talkback, its built-in compression bus, its 2 stereo monitoring sections for artists, and its array of outputs with ultra-developed routing capabilities, the SiX is a true professional SSL console condensed into a compact chassis, which stands proudly alongside its larger studio sisters.

A legendary heritage.

The SiX is a desktop-format analog console, ideal for the studio, which might seem like just another analog console available on the market. However, a keen eye will not be mistaken: with this SSL console, we are dealing with an incredibly powerful machine, designed to offer maximum flexibility of use in a wide variety of studio or live situations. Carrying more than 40 years of expertise and know-how accumulated by the prestigious SSL brand, this small console has nothing to envy from its much larger format sisters.

Robust analog inputs.

The SSL brand equips the world’s greatest studios, and for good reason: the reputation of its consoles and the sound of its preamps is well established. The SiX has inherited this legendary quality and features a pair of mic channels equipped with ultra-transparent SuperAnalogue preamps, delivering 66 dB of gain. These channels offer a separate line-level input, switchable to instrument level, to connect all your devices and instruments and benefit from these exceptional preamps. To process your sound directly, these channels feature a one-knob compression circuit, based on the classic SSL Channel Compressor, and a 2-band EQ section with two curve settings, Bell and Shelf. Cherry on top, these channels have a balanced insert point allowing integration of processors, which can be used as a send for recording to a DAW. These two inputs are complemented by two pairs of stereo inputs, as well as two External inputs that can be routed to the mix bus. Small, you said?

A legendary compression bus.

The SiX features a G Series compressor, offering the same sound and character as the very famous Channel Compressor available in 500 format and on the G Series consoles of the 1980s. Designed to add cohesion and enhance your mix without compromising clarity, this compression bus with fixed ratio, attack, and release parameters is activatable and adjustable directly on the two SuperAnalogue channels, as well as on the main outputs. The simplified controls of this compressor are ideal for achieving that legendary compression heard on recordings made with an SSL mixing desk.

Impressive monitoring and routing capabilities.

The SiX clearly stands out from other consoles in this format by its incredibly advanced monitoring and routing capabilities. To the great delight of artists, the SiX integrates two stereo foldback buses, with adjustable level and individually selectable sources, outputting via balanced jack connectors. The monitoring section is no less impressive, with a part allowing source selection, and a part managing the level, attenuation, or muting of monitor outputs, as well as sending to the Alternative output. The headphone output has its own source control section, while the main output offers the possibility to sum signals from Stereo Cue 1, External 1, and External 2 onto the main bus. Thanks to its summing capabilities, the SiX is then able to output 12 channels via its main output, a true feat for a console of this size!

Ideal for post-production, podcasts, and professional studio recording setups, the SiX is the culmination of over 40 years of professional mixing console development by SSL, providing sound engineers and musicians with all the signal processing and routing tools in a compact format. Are you ready to enter the legend?
