Essential Information About the Behringer DEEPMIND 6X Synthesizer

  • True 6-voice analog polyphony: warm, lively, and instantly musical sound for pads, basses, and leads.

  • Integrated premium effects section: 4 effects engines from TC Electronic and Klark Teknik, with over 30 algorithms (reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, phaser, multi-band distortion).

  • Advanced modulation: 2 LFOs per voice, 3 ADSR envelopes, and an 8-channel matrix (19 sources, over 130 destinations, including effects).

  • Modern workflow: 32-step control sequencer, advanced arpeggiator, generous memory, and remote control via iPad, PC, or Mac.

A Modern Analog Designed for Stage and Studio

The Behringer DEEPMIND 6X combines a 100 percent analog signal path with current production tools: studio-quality effects, extended memory, and USB/MIDI connectivity. It positions itself as a versatile polyphonic synthesizer in the Behringer lineup, capable of covering both classic textures and more evolving sounds thanks to its modulation and sequencing capabilities.

Who Is It For, and In Which Styles?

The DEEPMIND 6X is aimed at motivated beginners as well as experienced keyboardists seeking a true analog poly without excessive complexity. Ideal in the studio for wide pads, synthetic strings, round basses, and expressive leads, it is also comfortable in live settings thanks to its direct controls, expressive keyboard (velocity and aftertouch), and assignable wheels. Perfect for techno, electro, synthwave, pop, ambient, and film scoring.

Features and Innovations

On the synthesis side, it features a subtractive analog architecture: 2 analog oscillators per voice with dedicated modes and modulations (oscillator sync for more aggressive harmonics), plus a noise generator to thicken or texture the sound. The analog filter per voice offers a 12/24 dB dual-slope low-pass with resonance, complemented by a global high-pass filter and bass boost to sculpt the mix. The 3 ADSR envelopes per voice (VCF, VCA, modulation) and 2 LFOs per voice (7 waveforms, MIDI sync, automatic envelope triggering) allow precise movements, including envelope curve transformations (linear, exponential, inverse exponential). The 8-channel modulation matrix enables deep routings (up to effect parameters), while the 32-step control sequencer and advanced arpeggiator (tap tempo, configurable patterns) encourage rhythmic play. In performance, enjoy unison and poly modes (detune, panning, drift up to 6 voices per note), polyphonic portamento (fixed and exponential glide), chord memories, and immediate access via 26 sliders and a function switch. Finally, servo-balanced stereo outputs, pure analog bypass, and MIDI compatibility (NRPN/CC, dump) ensure clean integration in hybrid setups.

Use
Having owned the Deepmind 6 which I found very good for its value for money second-hand, I sold it to acquire the "new" model, the 6x. I mainly play Armenian music as a soloist and I thought the new model should at least fix the main flaw of the old model, namely, a pitchbend/modulation wheel without latency. I was wrong! It seems the only thing that changed is the colors and a pitchbend/modulation in black. Moreover, the quality of the touch is also worse, the touch feels cheaper, lighter, compared to the old model which I found excellent. I had already contacted customer support about the pitchbend because I am not the only one experiencing the problem and their response disappointed me a lot. They said it was part of the product specifications and they do not plan firmware updates to fix it. The worst part is that the pitchbend in midi has no latency, but they didn't want to hear about it. Anyway, I would advise you to opt for the deepmind 6 second-hand rather than the 6x. Apart from this bug (very frustrating for my use), the synth is very easy to handle, even for a beginner, I appreciate its small size, and it must be said that it sounds as good in the lows as in the highs (even with 6 voices). I specify that I have searched all the options and recalibrated the pitch bend many times but nothing works. I don't know yet if I will keep it or send it back.... (Show more)
