Essential Information About the Behringer EDGE Synthesizer
- Semi-modular analog percussive synthesizer with a 100% analog signal path for ultra punchy kicks, toms, and basses.
- Two VCOs (square and triangle waves), oscillator sync and FM, plus white/pink noise for a wide range of timbres.
- Dual 8-step sequencer with pitch and velocity settings per step, capable of reaching up to 10,000 BPM.
- 15 x 10 patch matrix and 44 controls for advanced sound shaping, both in the studio and on stage.
A Semi-Modular Analog Companion in the Behringer Range
Designed as the natural partner to the Behringer CRAVE, the EDGE expands your semi-modular ecosystem towards percussion and bass. It reinterprets classic analog circuits with a modern approach, offering the warm grain and impact of legendary machines while remaining compact and connected to current standards (MIDI and USB).
Who Is It For and What Styles?
Ideal for producers and performers of
electro, techno, acid, synthwave, IDM, ambient, or sound design, the EDGE caters to curious beginners as well as experienced semi-modular system users. Its immediate usability and strong modulation capabilities make it a formidable ally for live performance, studio work, improvisation, and rhythmic experimentation.
Features and Innovations
The EDGE employs
analog subtractive synthesis centered around two VCOs with selectable waveforms, internal
FM, and a
white/pink noise source. The 24 dB multimode ladder filter (low-pass and high-pass) delivers punch or acidic textures, while three independent
decay envelopes control pitch, filter cutoff, and amplitude to sculpt the attack and sustain of each hit. The
dual 8-step sequencer with pitch and velocity per step enables grooves, rolls, and evolving basslines. Pushed to the extreme (up to 10,000 BPM), it becomes a source of creative waveforms. The
semi-modular design works immediately without patching, but the 15 x 10 matrix opens a vast field of routings, from clock to filter modulations, including decay control or external audio injection. Multiple EDGE units can be chained for complex patterns and organic polyrhythms.
