With the Symphony Studio 8x8, Apogee offers an audio interface geared towards production and recording, designed to integrate naturally into a current studio environment: USB-C connection, high-resolution conversion, and a monitoring section that goes beyond simple volume control. In this approach, the interface is not just for inputting and outputting sound; it also becomes a control center for tracking, live processing, and listening, with dedicated DSP functions reminiscent of a console workflow.
This interface is aimed at ambitious home studios, rehearsal studios equipped for capturing, and control rooms that need 8 mic/line inputs to record a band (drums, guitars, vocals), a multi-mic podcast session, or live takes. The 8 line outputs on D-Sub25 are also relevant for feeding headphone mixes via an external system, driving a console, or integrating multiple outboard devices.
In production situations, the presence of direct monitoring and two independent headphone outputs facilitates sessions where the engineer's and musicians' listening must be managed simultaneously, without compromising responsiveness or level stability.
Each input benefits from a DSP channel strip including high-pass filter, 3-band EQ, and compressor. With the Control 2 software, it is possible to save up to 8 different monitor configurations, handy if you switch between multiple speaker pairs, listening positions, or uses (mixing, mastering, editing, client listening).
The 2 independent headphone outputs with very low output impedance ("zero ohm") aim for precise control of many headphones, with stable behavior even on models with variable impedance. On the line output side, the ability to switch between +4 dBu and -10 dBV simplifies adaptation to professional equipment as well as more consumer devices, without gain tinkering.
The 8 mic/line inputs on XLR provide immediate handling for capturing. The 8 line outputs via D-Sub25 comply with studio rack and patchbay wiring standards, while limiting rear panel clutter on the interface.
