Prism Overview

The PRISM was designed using a systemic approach to sound creation. While it contains many functions and circuits, these are precisely engineered to work in harmony, creating a unique tone-shaping tool with unmatched flexibility and performance!
Housed in a custom stainless steel enclosure with laser-engraved graphics, the PRISM is one of the few pedals on the market as beautiful as it is powerful! Read on to learn what makes the PRISM so unique!

EQ/TONE Sculpting

The PRISM was designed by Brad and Nigel as a tool musicians could use to unify their gear regardless of the guitar used. Since many guitarists swap guitars while keeping the same pedalboard and amp, we wanted to create a tool that allows players to re-voice their rig based on the guitar choice, and the PRISM’s active +/-15dB EQ achieves this effortlessly.
This active EQ offers incredible control and tonal range with ZERO interaction between the BODY and TONE controls. Zero interaction means adjusting the TONE only affects the high-frequency response without shifting the bass frequencies, and the same applies to the BODY control.
The most useful feature of the PRISM’s active EQ is that when placed at the front of a player’s rig and used as the main EQ, it allows the musician to dial in their tone with a single pedal, eliminating the need to adjust each pedal’s EQ when changing guitars, amps, or venues.

Boost/Preamp

As a boost/preamp, the PRISM contains three of the most distinct boost voices available. A clear, transparent boost with no tonal coloration (TRANS), a boost that emulates a tube amp (AMP), and finally the boost circuit that started it all, the vintage silicone treble booster (COLOR). These three circuits represent over 50 years of guitar effects, from the first guitar pedal ever made to modern transparent-voiced circuits.
Each boost/preamp circuit in the PRISM is completely discrete and shares NO circuitry with the others. We did this so each circuit remains fully faithful to its own voice without compromising tone for cost or space savings. In fact, each circuit is contained within its own true bypass loop, so there is never any extra circuitry in the signal path.
Traditionally, most players use a boost/preamp pedal to push the front end of a tube amp into overdrive, and the PRISM excels at this thanks to its massive output level. However, we encourage players to experiment by placing the PRISM at the front of their pedalboard and enjoy the multitude of new tones available when the PRISM boosts their existing pedals!
Note: To get the most out of the PRISM, we recommend placing it first in the signal chain, as its active EQ is more effective in this position and the treble boost circuit (COLOR) performs best when connected directly to the guitar output. Treble boost circuits are generally known for cleaning up dramatically when the guitar volume is rolled back, and the PRISM is no exception. For these reasons, we recommend placing the PRISM first in the signal chain.

Buffer

The PRISM is a true bypass pedal featuring our own silent switching circuit and uses relays with a momentary footswitch to achieve bypass. We chose relay bypass because it is far more reliable than traditional mechanical bypass methods, and the relays themselves have a lifespan of over 100,000 cycles!
At the very end of the PRISM, we included a high-current buffer used to strengthen your signal and preserve your tone regardless of your pedalboard complexity or cable length back to your amp.
