The Japanese brand JICO has worked hard to offer vinyl enthusiasts and DJs a replacement solution for the famous Shure M44-7 and N44-7 cartridges and diamonds, true legends that have marked the history of Hip-Hop and scratching.
This cartridge JICO J44A-7 DJ SD with moving magnet, featuring a high output level allowing it to be paired with most phono preamps on the market, offers performance equivalent to the Shure M44-7 cartridges of the time, with powerful bass and a smooth, balanced sound. Its 1/2" mounting interface makes it a very versatile cartridge, which can be mounted on most headshells on the market.
The N44-7 DJ SD stylus, with its precisely crafted tubular aluminum Type S cantilever designed to closely match Shure cantilevers, combined with a fully synthetic (nude) diamond specifically developed by JICO, offers excellent guidance in the vinyl groove and increased resistance to skipping.

The SD range, for Synthetic Diamonds, uses synthetic diamonds instead of natural diamonds. Artificially created, these synthetic diamonds share the same optical and physical properties as a natural diamond, while offering very consistent performance at a controlled cost. Thanks to a diamond tip with an adjusted diameter and a new cantilever damping system, synthetic diamonds are capable of delivering a pleasant and precise sound, more defined than a glued natural diamond, while maintaining a lifespan of over 200 hours.
A model optimized for DJs.
This J44A-7 SD cartridge offered by JICO, which reproduces sounds similar to authentic Shure cartridges, benefits from improvements made by the brand to best meet the needs of DJs. The recommended tracking force has been increased, from a maximum of 3g for the Shure model to 4.5g for this JICO model to ensure better tracking for the most demanding turntablism sessions. And to protect the diamond in all circumstances, this model features a protective flap that folds over the stylus to prevent any harmful friction.
