Carl Maria von Weber wrote his Clarinet Concerto in F minor in 1811 over the course of a few weeks for Heinrich Joseph Baermann (1784–1847), the clarinetist of the Munich Court Orchestra, to whom the work is also dedicated. Carl Maria von Weber wrote his Clarinet Concerto in F minor in 1811 over the course of a few weeks for Heinrich Joseph Baermann (1784–1847), the clarinetist of the Munich Court Orchestra, to whom the work is also dedicated. The premiere took place on June 13, 1811, in Munich with great success. The F minor concerto was not published until 1822. The work features the classical three-movement form. Unusual are two small highly romantic chamber music movements for clarinet and horn trio, which represent the middle section and the final bars of the Adagio. The main source of the present urtext edition is the autograph. The appendix contains Baermann's cadenza for the first movement as well as the two mentioned horn passages in a performance-practical string arrangement by the composer.
