Essential Information About the RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE AD/DA Converter
- Ultra-high resolution conversion 32-bit / 768 kHz with signal-to-noise ratio up to 123 dBA, driven by the SteadyClock FS for reference-level transparency.
- Comprehensive connectivity: 2 servo-balanced line inputs (XLR/TRS), 4 independent line outputs (XLR and TRS), triple headphone outputs including balanced 4.4 mm Pentaconn.
- Powerful DSP: 5-band parametric EQ, Bass/Treble controls, Crossfeed, "Loudness" sound control and background noise attenuation, plus 30-band DIGICheck analyzer.
- Studio integration: USB 2.0 UAC 2.0 class compliant, optical S/PDIF I/O (including ADAT), coaxial and AES via breakout cable, detailed status displays on high-resolution IPS screens.
From the ADI-2 Pro to the "SE" version: RME heritage, reinvented
The result of years of iterations on the multiple award-winning series, the ADI-2/4 Pro SE features a new circuit board, enhanced specifications, and a faster DSP. It continues RME's philosophy: exemplary conversion, rock-solid stability, and smart functions useful in daily work, both in mastering and critical audiophile listening.
Who is it for? Mastering, audiophile monitoring, and uncompromising capture
Designed for sound engineers, producers, demanding creators, and post-production studios, this converter excels wherever neutrality, dynamics, and routing flexibility are paramount. Fully independent line and headphone outputs allow switching between speaker decision-making and headphone listening, A/B testing, and managing sensitive IEMs as well as high-power headphones.
Advanced features for the modern studio
Conversion, clocking, and processing
The 32-bit / 768 kHz conversion combined with SteadyClock FS ensures a stable stereo image, low noise, and exemplary timing accuracy. The onboard DSP includes a 5-band parametric equalizer, instant Bass/Treble adjustments, natural Crossfeed for headphone listening, intelligent Loudness, and RIAA equalization for faithful vinyl digitization.
"Extreme Power" headphone monitoring
Two stereo headphone outputs on the front panel and one balanced 4.4 mm Pentaconn provide ample gain and low noise floor, including for IEMs. Line and headphone outputs are independent: headphones no longer interrupt rear outputs, enabling a true dual monitoring path.
Signal flow and connectivity
Thanks to optical (S/PDIF including ADAT), coaxial, and AES I/O (via breakout cable), the ADI-2/4 Pro SE integrates into all workflows. Rear TRS outputs can be assigned to Line 1/2 or Phones 3/4, convenient for inserting processing during mastering. The high-resolution IPS display shows peak levels, 30-band biquad DIGICheck analyzer, and detailed status (SPDIF, AES, USB, clock).
