The Essentials to Know About the Squarp Instruments Hapax Sequencer
- Dual project architecture for seamless transitions: up to 16 tracks x 8 patterns per project.
- Full MPE compatibility, high-resolution recording at 192 ppqn, and ultra-smooth editing on 128 RGB pads.
- Comprehensive connectivity: MIDI, USB host/device, CV/Gate, 16-bit CV inputs to bridge analog and digital worlds.
- Non-destructive MIDI effects, creative algorithms, and an advanced ModMatrix to sculpt grooves, harmonies, and automations.
Squarp's Flagship, Successor to the Pyramid
Designed in France by Squarp Instruments, Hapax stands as the brand's high-end hardware sequencer, extending the powerful and ergonomic spirit of the Pyramid while pushing boundaries: dual ARM processors, dual OLED screens, and a workflow crafted for both stage and modern studio.
Who Is It For? From Hybrid Live to Modular Studio
Hapax targets producers and performers looking to control vintage synths, Eurorack modules, and DAWs alike. Ideal for electro, techno, ambient, synthwave, pop, or soundtrack music, it excels in live sets (patterns, sections, song mode) as well as detailed composition thanks to its Live/Step modes and advanced management of polyrhythms and polymeters.
Features and Innovations
Hapax combines polyphonic/MPE sequencing, multichannel "drum" tracks, and a dedicated transposition track to reshape your patterns on the fly. Built-in MIDI effects (arpeggiator, Euclid, Scale, Swing, Randomizer, Harmonizer...) are real-time and non-destructive, with every parameter automatable and routable through a modulation matrix. Per-track time elasticity enables phasing and offset grooves, while uTime, probabilities, and conditional triggers generate organic evolutions. Undo/Redo, Snapshot, copy/paste, and loop recording secure an uninterrupted creative flow. The OS is stable and evolving, regularly receiving new features.
