Born in the early 1960s, the Mellotron established itself as an icon thanks to its unique tape playback principle, a true ancestor of modern sampling. Becoming essential in progressive rock and atmospheric productions, its "ghostly orchestral" grain has marked generations. The Mellotron Micro carries this DNA in digital form, preserving the character and nostalgia of the historic libraries while offering immediate usability and a portable format designed for today's production.
The Mellotron Micro is aimed at beginner musicians who want quick access to inspiring vintage sounds, as well as experienced keyboardists and producers seeking iconic textures without the burden of a bulky instrument. Perfect in the studio to enrich arrangements, it also excels live for laying down string pads, choirs, and flutes with instantly recognizable character. It naturally fits into synthwave, ambient, pop, rock, cinematic, and soundtrack music whenever you're looking for substance, breath, and a retro color.
The Mellotron Micro is based on a sample playback engine with 24-bit audio data to faithfully reproduce the grain of vintage instruments. The 100 built-in sounds are immediately accessible and come from the original first-generation Mellotron and Chamberlin tape libraries, identical to those of the Sound Card 01 from the Mini and M4000D series. Designed to be playable despite its 2-octave format, it includes an octave selector to cover the same range as the M4000D models. For performance, you have direct controls for volume, tone, pitch, and a normal/half-speed mode, ideal for thickening a pad or darkening a texture in tape style. With its two screens and MIDI In/Out/Thru connections, it can also serve as a reliable controller for your synths, modules, or software. Note: expansion cards are not compatible with the Mellotron Micro.
