Crazy Tube Circuits HI POWER Overdrive

Description

Crazy Tube Circuits Hi Power

The new HI POWER pedal follows the architecture of Crazy Tube Circuits' Crossfire and Unobtanium, combining the overdrives of a pedal and an amp to recreate a legendary sound.
The HI POWER is inspired by the combination of two famous British pieces of equipment. The impressive Colorsound Power Boost pedal meets the power and warmth of a Hiwatt amp.

The combination of these two elements strongly recalls David Gilmour's setup, and more
specifically the one he used for Pink Floyd's album Wish You Were Here – especially the solos of “Shine on You Crazy Diamond” and “Have A Cigar,” but the possibilities are endless.

Features:

  • Booster/overdrive plus amp in a single enclosure
  • Recreates the sounds of the legendary setup used by David Gilmour to record Pink Floyd's album Wish You Were Here
  • Right section: faithful reproduction of the Colorsound Power Boost and Colorsound Overdriver circuits using BC184 transistors matching the original specifications
    • Controls: Volume, Bass, Treble, and Master plus circuit selector.
    • Gain with a wide adjustment range: from transparent boost to gritty and fuzzy overdrive.
    • Two-band Baxandall equalizer (bass and treble).
    • The Master knob adjusts the overall output level. Boost with huge amplification headroom.
Early versions of this pedal did not have this control. Here, it is designed to exactly reproduce the circuit of the early models when set to maximum.
    • The selector allows choosing the 18-volt circuit in the style of the Power Boost or the 9-volt circuit in the style of the Overdriver.
  • Left section: integrated “Hiwatt” amp
    • Fully analog simulation of the preamp and power amp sound and behavior.
    • Controls: Volume, Bass, Middle, Treble, Presence, and Master plus input channel and headroom selectors.
    • Volume control: from clean sound to thick and bold British overdrive.
    • 3-band equalizer in the Hiwatt style (bass, mid, treble).
    • Presence control matching the original, located in the feedback loop of the power amp simulation circuit to control upper midrange and treble levels.
    • The Master knob adjusts the overall output level. It behaves like the original knob that increases gain as the setting is raised.
    • The channel selector allows choosing between the amp's Normal, Linked, and Bright input channels, influencing tonal color and gain level.
    • The Headroom selector allows choosing between the dynamic response with high headroom of the 100-watt amp and the compressed response with less headroom of the 50-watt power amp.
  • Separate use of pedal and amp sections possible
  • True-bypass with silent relay switching for each section
  • 2 footswitches / 2 status LEDs, one for each section
  • Function that presets the footswitch states when powering the pedal
  • Connectors on top of the pedal
  • Passive serial effects loop to insert pedals between the two sections or to use them separately as independent effects
  • Power supply: 9 V DC with 2.1 x 5.5 mm connector, center negative (not included)
  • Internal operation at 18 V DC (thanks to a voltage doubling circuit) for high headroom and tube-like performance
  • Power consumption: 84 mA
  • Green die-cast metal enclosure with colored lettering according to sections (orange for the pedal section and white for the amp section)
  • Dimensions (L x D x H): 119 x 97 x 53 mm
  • Weight: 444 g
  • Made in Greece
