The Essentials to Know About the Gibson Custom 1964 Trini Lopez Standard Reissue Ultra Light Aged Guitar
- Iconic semi-hollow signature inspired by the ES-335, with a unique look: diamond-shaped sound holes, "six-in-line" headstock, signature trapeze tailpiece.
- Faithful vintage construction (maple/poplar/maple, solid maple center block) for generous sustain and exemplary feedback control.
- Two non-paraffined Alnico 3 Custombucker pickups: organic dynamics, sparkling cleans, and warm 60?s grainy overdrives.
- Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged finish: authentic patina, Custom Shop reliability, and smooth modern playability.
A Gibson Classic Reissued with Precision
Born in 1964, the Trini Lopez Standard transposes the ES-335 DNA into an immediately recognizable silhouette. This Custom Shop reissue relies on period scans and templates to reproduce the top bending, the solid maple center block, the "Firebird non-reverse" headstock, and the correct hardware. The Ultra Light Aged aging provides a subtle patina without compromising structural integrity.
For Whom and Which Styles?
Designed for discerning guitarists, both stage professionals and studio enthusiasts, it shines from blues to classic rock, including soul, modern jazz, and indie. The "Medium C 1964" neck profile promotes a natural grip for chord playing, double-stops, and singing solos. Its versatility makes it an excellent "main guitar."
Sound
The laminated maple/poplar/maple body delivers brightness and precise attack, while the solid maple center block thickens the mids, increases sustain, and reduces feedback. The non-paraffined Alnico 3 Custombucker pickups provide a very lively response: silky highs, creamy mids, and firm lows. The 3-position selector and CTS 500K electronics with Paper-in-Oil capacitors offer a wide range of balances, from articulate cleans to compressed vintage crunches, with excellent volume and touch sensitivity.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To preserve the character of this semi-hollow, favor nickel electric strings in "regular" 10-46 gauge (compatible) or 11-49 for more tension and a rounder tone in jazz/blues. A low-profile capo for 6-string electric guitar will fit without hindering access to the frets. Add a leather strap with adjustable length (standard buttons) and a set of picks from 0.73 to 1.0 mm to adapt attack and tone. Custom Shop hard case already included.
