Designed to unlock harmonic writing, Chordcat combines intelligent chord assistance with a compact, immediate sequencer. It positions itself as a composition-oriented groovebox, ideal for quickly finding inspiring chord progressions and then transforming them into finished tracks without a computer.
Accessible to beginners as well as experienced musicians, Chordcat suits styles like house, future bass, pop, lo-fi, ambient, or soundtracks. In the studio, on stage, or during mobile jams, it offers a smooth workflow: choose a key, follow chord suggestions, sequence your ideas, and arrange in real time.
The "Chord Cruiser" mode offers chain-compatible chords: listen, confirm, and the algorithm suggests the next chord for fast, musical songwriting. The 18 "Chordsets" (13 genre-inspired, 5 basic chord presets) serve as creative springboards, to use as-is or as starting points.
Set the key and scale so the keyboard only offers correct notes; LED indicators confirm chord compatibility. The "Running Direction" function changes the playback direction of 4x4 patterns (right, down, clockwise, counterclockwise), opening up new rhythmic phrases.
The engine offers 145 presets and 16 drum kits, shaped by a low-pass filter and an amplitude envelope. The XY pad instantly controls the arpeggiator, delay, and ducker to add depth to your grooves.
For arrangement, enjoy a clear workspace: 8 tracks with independent levels and pan, 16 patterns per track, 128 steps (8 bars), and "Pattern Chain" to link your sections. MIDI IN/OUT/THRU and USB-C connectivity facilitate controlling external synths and DAW integration. Sequence import/export via the "Chordcat Manager" software (available for free download from March 2025) allows seamless switching between hardware and computer. Power via 6 AA batteries or USB-C ensures true mobility.
