Zack Grooves approached Meinl with the goal of finding a drumstick that would feel like an extension of his hands and meet the needs regardless of the situation he was in. Together, they designed a drumstick that features a unique combination of weight, diameter, and length. To start, a selection of the heaviest Hickory dowels is made, then they are milled to achieve a medium diameter of 0.550". The dowels are then cut to a length of 16.5 inches and equipped with a long taper to compensate for the heavy weight. The final result is a fast drumstick that is light enough for small venues but has the necessary weight to be projected when needed and to withstand louder concerts. To complete the flexibility, Zack chose an oval tip for its balanced response and the wide variety of tones and attacks that can be generated on cymbals, giving him full control over the final sound.
