A (very) nice surprise. I have several acoustics (Martin, Gibson, and Larrivée), so I did not expect, given the price, something exceptional. I have always liked the particular sound of Ovation but I never found the sound of my first one (which was sold to me by Marcel Dadi in his store in 1977, and resold one day out of foolishness). Clearly, there is a noticeable improvement compared to the Ovations of recent years. The finish is impeccable, perfectly set up. Note that it will not be possible to adjust the action, the bridge is glued to the pickup but this is not a problem, the action is neither too high nor too low so it will suit everyone.
String change mandatory. For me, Elixir strings.
The acoustic sound is nothing extraordinary without being bad, the bass and treble are there but it's not Martin level in terms of sound projection either.
Once plugged in, it is great, there are harmonics everywhere, the sound is powerful and perfectly balanced, the notes stand out perfectly and we find the famous Ovation sound.
No adjustment was necessary, frets impeccably finished, a fairly round neck that fits well in the hand and on which you can move around without problem, very beautiful very dark fingerboard and balanced weight. The round-up mid depth body is really comfortable (but that's a matter of taste).
In short, given the price, it's a good deal... provided you like this type of body and the Ovation sound.
